MACHINE_ Error at Startup

My computer restarted for no reason and upon restarting,
I got something like MACHINE_CHECK_FAILURE or something.
I can't remember the exact error, but it started with
MACHINE_

After that blue screen during startup, it shut the
machine off (not restart) and I unplugged the PSU and
went to bed after about a minute trying to figure what it
was while off. When I did so, there was a pitch change
coming from something inside the computer.

Any clue as to what's wrong? I'm scared I may have a bad
power supply (just installed a known good Antec Tru550)
for some reason or other.

It does mention power supply. Can you borrow another PSU to try?

If this seems to be the second PSU to go "bad ", I would look at other areas. I have read that capacitors on the motherboard can fail. Check your motherboard for any components that seem to be "bulged" or "leaky" (they are cylinders that stand up off the motherboard surface).

This might also explain the noise.
