    Hi All,
How do I determine if "USB Legacy Device" is enabled in the BIOS of my PC?...How do you access the BIOS in W98se?

    Thanks

Access to the BIOS is dependant on the BIOS itself, not the OS.

On boot up, immediately after the BIOS beep hit - and keep hitting the Esc, Del, F2 or F10 keys. One of these should get you into the BIOS - the correct key is dependant on the make of BIOS.

Often the POST screen will show a message like ' Press Del to enter setup'.

Oncein the BIOS setup navigate to PCI configuration. usually under the Advanced tab.

    Thanks Pete,
I found it "Enable USB Legacy Device" under something called "Chipset Features" or something like that...I have been having trouble getting my APC UPS to communicate with the software that came with it, and tech support said to enable USB Legacy Device and to disable Advance Power Managment.

The USB hub seems to have solved my problem...It's strange that this solved my problem, because in the instructions, it says not to plug the UPS into a USB hub!

    Here is what they said:
    ****************************************************
The USB hub can cause trouble with the UPS or it can help rectify some
problems. Signalling is amplified on some hubs, while other hubs will
cause a loss of signal. Some hubs will put distortion on the signal.
This one that you have now seems to be either amplifying the signal so
your computer is able to understand it. I am happy this has been
resolved for you. I would say that nothing is wrong with the UPS. There
was an incompatiblity between the computer and the UPS, but it has been
    solved with the USB hub.
