win98se shutdown

    I have uninstalled anti-virus and firewall and have tried to install ms patch for this problem to no avail. It gets to windows shutdown screen and then locks up. I have run scan disck and found nothing. I tried to unclick fast shutdown, but my system does not have it. Anyone have any ideas?
