    Hi,
After installing NSW 2004 Pro on our Win98SE computer, we proceeded to create rescue disks for Norton AntiVirus.
We rebooted to test the rescue disk and everything was OK.
The problem occurred when we shutdown the computer to reboot.

We get the follwing error messages:

    MSGSRV32
An error has occurred in your program. To keep working anyway, click ignore and save your work to a new file. To Quit this program, click close.
You will lose information you entered since your last save.

    Close Ignore

If we click on ignore, nothing happens.
If we click on Close, we get the following message:

    MSGSVR32
This Program has Performed an Illegal Operation and Will Be Shut Down.
If the Problem Persists, Contact the Program Vendor.

    Close Details

If we click on Details we get:

MSGSRV32 Created a General Protection Fault in Module ESSOLO.DRV at 0001:00002e33

We cannot get to Windows. If we click Close on the second message, we end up with a blank screen and just the mouse arrow.

Does anyone know how to correct this problem?

    Thanks for any help

Boot to a "safe mode ", uninstall "essolo.drv" sound driver. Reboot, and see, if you'll get to "normal" Windows.
If so, go HERE , and get the newest driver for your sound card.
See, if things are back to normal.

    Hi broni,
    Thanks for the reply.

We deleted the "essolo.drv" sound driver and this allowed us to boot into windows.
(the old driver was in C:\Windows\System and we downloaded and installed the new driver by clicking on "setup.exe" which installed it automatically but, it installed in C:\Windows\System32)

We did get the following message when we booted:

    "Display
There is a problem with your Display Settings.
The adapter type is incorrect, or the current settings do not work with your hardware. OK "

Apparently as a result of this, the top of open windows do not show (the bar with minimize, restore & close) and the right side of desktop is pulled in about one inch on the right side causing icons in system tray to be stacked. Also the top of icons on the top row on desktop are cut off.

I tried changing settings in Control Panel/Display but this didn't correct it.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Does your sound work?

What resolution is is set to?
You should also have some buttons on your monitor to adjust display position.
Your video card driver may be corrupted, as well. Try to get a new one.

    Hi broni,

Yes, our sound seems to be working OK.

I managed to straighten the display problems with adjustments on the monitor.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi broni,

After rebooting again, I had the same display problems so I found a new driver for my video card & installed it.
The display seems to be OK now.

    Thanks again.
