Can you extract media center from Media center xp

    I have XP pro full and my buddy has media center xp, is there a way I can extract the media center portion from his disc and put it on my pc? thanks

    Probably not but even if you could, it would be theft and we don't discuss doing that sort of thing on here.

    oh sorry, I meant to say that I owned both XP PRO full and media center edition and want to install pro with media center. Now can you help me.

    Unless Microsoft mis-spoke, I have to wonder how you got a copy of the Media Center OS. From Here

    it came with my new gateway pc, it is on the restore disc

    kiddk - I'm really not getting a warm fuzzy feeling about this.
    - you say first a buddy has it and next that you have it.
    - it probably wouldn't run on other, non-media-center-ready hardware.
    - even if it would, you would probably be violating all sorts of licensing rules.

    So, I'll go back to my original statement that we aren't going to help with this particular task. Not to say you can't find help in doing it somewhere - just that here isn't the place.
