I just built my brothers computer and loaded win 98se(cant afford xp yet). We have no sound or volume control on the tool bar. Checked device manager and the onboard sound driver is there. There are no ? marks in the device manager. Any ideas? thanks

In Control Panel>Multimedia>Audio tab, check "Show volume control on the taskbar. "

When I upgraded my system, the new board had a provision for an onboard sound chip. I had to go into the bios and disable the onboard, then I got sound.
