I have a wireless printer server (ad-hoc mode) that several laptops are configured to.

My question is, since I made static IPs for each of the laptops to share one printer, would they also be able to pick up the wireless internet when or where available?

    Yes.

Depending on exactly which set of addresses you used, you may be able to keep them or may have to change them but you can certainly have static addresses on your internal network and via a router or ICS, be able to use the internet.
