    I'm upgrading from W 95 to W XP.

Can anyone tell me whether MS Works 4 is likely to be compatible?

    Thank you.

According to this (translated by Google) page the answer would seem to be No. (click on 'Translating' if no apparent response)

If the page fails to display make a search on Google for Works 4 + XP - that hit on first page.

However you could try running Works in compatability mode - Win 95 - may work.

I've been running it on mine for a year now. Except for one minor glitch it runs like it was made for XP. The "glitch" I mentioned may be due to a problem with Works and XP or it may be it may just be a problem with the Works installation. When I click on the minimize button in the upper right corner (the one with the minus in it) another one will appear right next to it and the window doesn't minimize. If I then click on the extra minus button the window minimizes. Clicking on the works button on the taskbar however does minimize it. Also clicking on the button at the top that you ordinarily use to change it from full screen to a normal window minimizes the program. If I want to use a normal window I have right click on the works button on the taskbar and choose restore. Other than that it works great. I haven't bothered to try to run down the source of the problem so I don't know if it's just a problem with the program itself or not. If you install it I'd be interested in knowing if yours does the same. Just curious.

I got in just behind you. Your post jogged my mind though. I gave the compatibility mode a try but my glitch stays the same.
I had a look at the link you posted though. I'd sure like to know the reason why they say it's not compatible. Aside from the minor problem I mentioned it works great. Seems to me MS is probably just trying to make an extra buck.

I am using Windows XP home edition and I have two users on the computer me and my wife. I installed Works 4.5 on my wifes site but it will not install on my site. She uses it to write letters mostly.
