    Hi All,

I guess this question is directly mainly to IT managers of companies that may know the answer to this inquiry.

I am curious if there is a way that a company can use, either by installing a software or another method of monitoring employees usage of internet, including MSN.

With more and more companies implementing internet policies I would like to know is there really a way to monitor all your activities on your computer or is it mostly a scare tactic to deter employees from using it for personal reasons????

Yes, there really is a way to monitor your internet usage.

A friend of mine works in the IT department of an international megacorp. The U.S. office finally added monitoring software to track and log all internet usage.

Email coming into their servers is also monitored. One of the IT's guys' duties is to sort through everybody's mail and dump the spam before it gets to the individuals' mailboxes. So, yes, that means the IT guys can read anybody's email.

The amusing part of the whole deal is that the CEO of the U.S. office who has been the one pushing for the monitoring was the first one to get a bunch of **** sites in his usage log. Naturally, he said he was "testing the software." Yep, everybody believed him, too.
