Hi Johanna: Would you please be kind enogh to call my doctor and have him write a prescription for me for the drugs you refer to.

I have had the delusion for some time that the Mfg.s or Software vendors will supply reliable tech support.

It is strange that such a belief would persist in the face of the enormous amount of empirical evidence to the contrary.

However, such is the nature of mental illness.

I think part of the problem is when I pay an exorbitant price for the rental of a piece of software, I expect it to work. That must be the basis of my delusional thinking. After all, when I rent a car, if it breaks, the rental company must fix it.

Also, for some time I have believed that when you produce and market a product, the honorable thing to do is to stand behind it.

As you already know, the small print in the software rental agreement releases the vendor from the general standards of honor and responsibility that apply to the rest of us.

I wonder how many vehicles GM would be able to sell if they treated their customers the way the major software vendors treat theirs?

Thanks for piping up. Happy to hear your pins are out and the pain has diminished. Also, try to remember you used to drive your mother crazy and you are still alive.

    Martin

P.S. I have only had two or three blue screens and one NT Authority shutdown since 7:00 this evening. At least, the %*&(% thing is rebooting.

    Hi Arie:

Drive is recognized in Window's My Computer as drive "F ". It is on the IDE Controller

In Device Manager, Properties: Location 1, disk 0.

In Disk Management, "F" is disk 0.

"C" is on disk 1 in disk management along with partition "D" This disk is on the SCSI controller and shows up as disk 0 in RAID BIOS.

Thanks for your interest. Is any of this relevant to the fact that XP refuses to do a repair install on "C "? (which when booted from XP CD with High Point RAID drivers is seen as "D ")

If still getting error messages or BSODs that reference "long since removed hardware or software" then that means there are still registry entries that are trying to load these applications.

There are 10 registry locations that can run programs at system startup. Check these locations in your registry for the removed items:

Thanks Tony, I have printed out the list of registry locations and will do an item by item search there.

    Will post results.

Yea, I think things are getting "mixed-up" here...

A bit hard to troubleshoot remotely though...

Arie, I have just about given up on trying to get XP CD boot to repair the XP installation. It just does not give a repair option. So, don't knock yourself out trying to figure how to repair from where you sit.

    Thanks again for your interest.
