When trying to install MS Office 2000 into my new computer, running XP, I am coming across an error. It says that there is an error reading from a file and to verify that the file exists. The name of the file is "BADNWS_S.POT "

It only gives the option of retry or cancel. When I hit retry, it looks for about a minute and pops up with the same error message.

I've already gone through MSCONFIG and disabled a lot of the un-needed startup apps, suchas Norton Antivirus and aything else that might interfere. I don't know what else to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Phalcon -Welcome to the Board :)

BADNWS_S.POT is a Powerpoint Template - if you don't need it click ignore.

You might try cleaning the CD - gentle strokes from the centre out wards.

If that doesn't work you could try copying the CD to your HD and installing from there.

It actually doesn't give me the option to ignore the file. I was using a copy of the cd and it was giving me problems. I tried running a custom install only installing word, excel, and the converters and filters and it would give me an error about another file. I tried this with two different copies.

Anyway, I got ahold of an original and did the custom install as mentioned above, and I ran into no problems what so ever. Thanks for the help and the welcome though.
