    I hav 2 computers that share files/printers.

They are connected to switch (no router).

both systems are winXP with ZoneAlarm.

    1) are my shared folders only accessable to these computers, or everone on the internet who has my IP??

    2) if I communicate with the other PC, ie: transfer file, chat, ect...
is this transmitted over internet, or direct from one PC to the other??

    thnx,

    1. Everyone if either/both PCs have a valid internet IP address.

    2. With a switch (as opposed to a hub which isn't as smart), only between your PCs.

If #1 bothers you, you can always load NetBeui and unbind TCP/IP from file & printer sharing. This will make your shares & printers totally unavailable to any internet systems.
