Try an internet search as I did and you may find more info than me.
Anyway I think it's a windows media player error. A couple of solutions would be to do a clean (reformat) install, but I guess you don't want to go down that preferred path? An apparent fix believe it or not is to hit the OK button anywhere from 20 to around 80 times to get past the error and continue with the install. Not the ideal solution, but hey, if it works ;)

May be a >WAG<, but try cleaning your XP cd. Wpie with a lint free cloth from the center, outwards.

What prompted you to decide to do a reinstall? Just asking because it might have some bearing on the problem at hand.

Johanna - you ever use toothpaste to clean a CD - then rinse well with water and dry with your cloth?

It is funny you should say that. The other morning I called all 4 kids into the kitchen, wanting to know HOW the toothpaste got on the cd, what was the cd doing in the bathroom to begin with, and why anyone thought it was okay to play with my cds, especially with toothpaste! ???????

Come to think of it, it did come out pretty clean under running water... :D
    learn something here everyday...:) :)

When you figure out which kid done the deed, help him/her to get into some sort of tech field. He/she seems to have a real knack and at an early age too.

    Hi All:

Cleaning CD with toothpaste works. My 9 year old is an expert at getting gunk, junk and stuff on her game CDs. When they finally are so gunked up they can't be read, I take them directly to the bathroom, clean them with whatever toothpaste is available thinned with a little water, stroke from center to outside with soft cloth. There is a fine abrasive (pumice) in toothpaste that will get out minor scratches and a detergent that will disolve the gunk. Be gentle, rinse with clear water and pat dry. Besides that, the CDs smell better too. :D
