Create a bootdisk with the file you downloaded, boot from it and at the a: prompt type "sys c:" (without the quotes) and press enter. Then remove the floppy disk and ctrl>alt>delete to restart the computer. It should then boot to a c prompt. This is assuming you've already formatted the drive.

I think I see what just might be a slight ( major ? ) problem here.

Or I may be seing something that is not there. :(

Or my thinking may or may not fit.

From a reply by Crucial in the What Processor is Powering your PC Post. ( Note the last line )
I wonder if the party that wrote that would care to change his/her mind ?

Seing the same instructions given in a post 4 days ago started me thinking.

The Instructions by Zander will work. But I believe you need a floppy drive to make them work.

I believe that the suggested download is meant to be put on a Floppy not the HD.

Now that you mention it BB, I remember the previous post also. I believe I mentioned in that one that you could just copy the system files to the disk.

BB's right though. You need a floppy disk drive for this. One other alternative if you don't have a floppy drive would be to download a program like Winimage and use it to extract the 4 files I mentioned in the other post. You could then connect the empty hard drive to the computer that you have the files on and copy them to the new drive from there. Now that I think about it, you shouldn't even need the disk image you downloaded. They should be in your windows\command folder. You should be able to copy them from there unless you're going to put a different version of win98 on the new drive. If this is the case you'll have to go the image route so you get the correct version of the files.
