    Hello All

About a month ago I acquired a new computer and reinstalled Word Perfect 8.0.0.710 onto my Windows 98 SE platform, the same installation as I had with my old computer. This one has an 1800MHz Celeron Chip whereas the old one was an 800 Pentium III.

My printer is the same: a Lexmark Z51.

I'm having no problem printing letters or graphics whatsoever but when I attampt to print a #10 envelope, WP and the Printer go through all the normal motions including my activating manual envelope feed and including making all the normal sounds and actions of printing. Even the Lexmark Control Panel acts as it normally would.

Now here's the rub: when the envelope is delivered [as in ejected] by the printer, it's blank [and so is a letter size sheet of paper when I use it for test purposes].

Envelope is correctly selected in the envelope print window as are the desired margin locations. I have Arial selected as the font of choice, font sizes and both the return address and addressee show as they normally would.

I believe the fault lies within the WP installation or setup but for the life of me, I cannot find it. I've even tried pre-setting the envelope selection in Lexmark's properties but it should not be necessary as Word Perfect has always controlled print demands.

    I'd sure appreciate some guidance.

    Thanks all.

    WORD PERFECT PRINT PROBLEM

    To Irdreed

Thanks for the references. I had looked at all of them but I don't think any of them describe the problem I'm having. I hesitated to try them since they generally apply to versions 10 and 11, none to Ver 8.x.

I've been thinking about reinstalling the Lexmark Print Driver - the original - since updated drivers have NEVER worked for me with WP 7 or 8. :)

I have an old, but inactive, copy of WP 8 on my C drive and I looked at it and I have the identical envelope setup. I had a hard drive going down and my tech folk were abled to replicate `C' and to isolate it with no connection to the OS, just another file folder.

When did Corel remove its WP 8 and 9 FAQs? Sure do want a person to upgrade but at my age, it's not worth my while. Besides, I only use WP.

I also have Wordprefect 9.0 installed. (Actually WordPerfect Office 2000).

here's what I did: On the Corel Website I clicked "Support" then under "Search our Knowledge Base" clicked the link "click here" , next at Product and Services selected "WordPerfect Office" and next to it at Search Text I inserted "Wordperfect 9.0 FAQ's ", hit the search button and noted there were 74 Pages of FAQ's that hopefully may present some info you need or can use.

    Hope this helps:D :D

    COREL HELP DOCS

    Hi idreed

I've been through them all [thank you - I hadn't even found Ver 9], but none worked. I even tried the Apple Laser print driver as suggested. With it, nothing happened.

I've compared WP current to my old WP vis a vis files and can see nothing added or deleted.

Guess I'll now go the reinstall route. WP most certainly is trying to work with Lexmark, just no ink is coming out 'til I revert back to letter size and all levels of quality work just fine.

Yes, looks like Ver 8 FAQs are gone.

    WORD PERFECT PRINT PROBLEM

    Hi idrdreed et al,

Eureka, I did it. I solved the problem.

When one selects `Envelope' and opens the set up window, then clicks `Font' to set the font attributes, there's a facility entitled `shading'. Unknown to me, it was jumping constantly back to 1% hence giving the impression of printing but the result was imperceptible to the naked eye.

Anyway, this must be set to 100% even if black is chosen for the print job and then OK. For some reason, even when I clicked OK, it kept returning to 1%.

I have a hunch, however: just before that, I had reinstalled the printer for the third time. In the main window of WP, I selected Print, then Details in the default printer window, then settings and finally `Set as Application Default'. I had, of course, already set up the printer driver as desired.

I don't understand that interplay between this process and then opening envelope, setting shading to 100% and clicking OK as above. I just know that it worked !!!

    Thanks all for your patience.

:D :D :D Congratulations!! Glad you got it working. Isn't it amazing how the simple things can be so complex??

Thanks for posting back with your solution, hopefully it'll help someone else.:)
