adding a 2nd hard drive

It's been so long I had to go back to remind myself what the problem was....Press Y and enter to enable large disk support, then follow my previous instructions.

 

I want to thank everyone who helped me out on getting the second hard drive installed. I really enjoyed learning this stuff even if I am an old dog (over 60).

A special thanks to spstanhope. I followed your excellent instructions on running fdisk and I now have the second hard drive installed. I have even started to transfer some files over onto it. Everything seems to be working fine.

Second Hard Drive

I put a second drive on my Gateway and had no problems, this is the first time I have every done this. I purchased a Maxtor hardvdrive. It came with a Cd Rom and very good installation instructions, I just followed the on screen propmts , I am not a PC wiz and was farly simple. Your new drive becomes d and your old one is c or the slave one. However you can set it up anyway you want!
