CD-RW Format Problem

I put A CD-RW in the adaptec directcd wizard drive to format and it says it will take 50 to 90 minutes for processing. It is now 124 minutes and has yet completed. The status bar across that shows the progress has been at the end for 35 minutes now. Seems too long. What may be the problem and what should I do?

 

Maybe this will help some. I too have the Adaptec program and found that time was a nusiance in format process. If you will look at the Icon in the Task Bar for the program, and if it's not there, additional help below, right click on the Icon and select FORMAT. This will usually take seconds, not minutes or hours. I use only CD-R so a CD-RW might be different. The CD will be ready to use, Write, Rewrite as you chose when you close the program.

If you have no Icon on the Task Bar, look for "Direct CD Format Utility" in your start menu. Bring it up and you will have a choice of "Show on Task Bar" so select that option. May have to reboot to see it. Try this instead of the option you have been using and I think you will see a great difference.
