    Hi Pat,

Yes, you can move the entire Mail folder, and the entire News folder from the old Profile to the New Profile. I just created a new Profile for 4.79, and moved the Mail & News folders from the old to the new Profile and it worked perfectly.

I would suggest moving the New Mail folder out of the username folder first, then copy the Old Mail folder to the New username folder. Do the same for the News folder.

Back up everything before you edit. Ensure that Netscape is closed.

Great. That sounds like the way to go.

Should I still rename the new nsreg.dat file in Windows, and then put the old nsreg.dat file in there. Then delete, or move elsewhere, the renamed file?

I like moving things somewhere out of the way until I am sure that I won't need them anymore. Then delete them. Chicken, I guess. :)

    Pat,

I wouldn't bother with nsreg.dat now that you have a new Profile. Move your Mail & News first, and see if it works.

    IT WORKED! IT WORKED!

What a relief to see all the folders and mail back where they belong. I made backups of everything. I didn't know whether to transfer the entire folder, so I chose "select all" and moved the files in the folder, rather than the folder itself.

We're almost finished. (Boy, do you know your stuff:))

My address book is still blank. Can I get that back in there too? Otherwise, I'll type them back in. There are only about 15, but some of them must be careful typing.

The "forward" still does not work, but I can live without that. I'll just have to settle for copy and paste.

I had to get up the nerve to do this and I am so pleased that it worked.

    Thank you so much.

    Hi Pat,

I delighted to hear you have almost everything back in place.

You can copy the pab.na2 file from the Old Profile, and copy it to the New Profile. Before doing so, remember to either move the New pab.na2 file out of the Username folder, or rename the file: Xpab.na2.

You know the drill now, ensure that Netscape is closed, and back up first...

That worked too. Well, I'm back in business, thanks to you.

As much as I like "corresponding" with you, I hope it doesn't have to happen too often. :) I'm quite technophobic even though I have used computers for 12 years. They still scare me when it gets too technical.

    Thank you very much.
