Critical Updates On MS CD Rom

    Hi All,
    A while back, I read that MS was going to give away CD Roms with "Critical Updates" on them to anybody that wanted one...This would be very helpful for people with dialup connections that have to reformat & reload windows.

    Does anybody know if there is there a link or phone # to ask for the CD?

    The only thing you can do until a CD is released is to go to the update catalogue and select the updates with are critical after SP1, download these when time permits to a folder on your HD.

    Select Windows XP SP1 to obtain all of the patches listed below.

    When you have these you will be able to make the disc to use if you should need to re-install. I have a disc with all the updates and it has been more than useful to many friends. I know dial up is not as easy as BB but if you download in different sessions then you will have to wait for one big download.

    When you say update catalogue, are you referring to windowsupdate.com?...I forgot to mention that my OS is W98se...Would I need to select something besides "Windows XP SP1" ?

    miniB's file list is valid for Windows XP installations only.

    For Windows 98SE You´ll need other files / file versions depending on which version of IE You are running and so on.

    Go to Windows Update Catalog and follow the prompts to choose OS and language.

    The difficult part is to choose which of all the critical updates You need.
    Maybe someone more familiar with 98SE can tell You where You can find the install history on Your computer.

    The CD is now availble to order from Microsoft XP, ME, 2000, 98 and 98SE all you need is your .Net passport to sign in for ordering.
