Lost access to the following drives:
A: Windows Explorer "sees" the drive but is "...not accessable "
    C: OK...primary fixed drive
    D: OK...secondary fixed drive
E: CDR-RW; functions with only audio media and date upload/ download (Quicken). No video. WinExp sees the drive and the data/audio files; but not the video, and same with program discs.
    F: CD-ROM; same as with E drive
G: Zip parallel; nothing; WinExp "seee" the drive...bis "...not accessable "
H: Lexmark USB 2.0 mass storage.....Same as with G (the printer off the same USB hub works fine.

I lost all these devices at once. i've disable/enabled...removed with drivers and reinstalled, to no avail. BIOS sees my CDs fine, so I assume the problem is upstream in OS and BIOS or M/Board.

Except for the condition of the aformentioned drives, system works as always.

Where do I look to restore the drives functionality?

    - does it work in safe mode?

    - any event log errors/warnings that look related?

    - does it work when logged on a a local or domain admin?

    - do you have an emergency repair disk that is reasonably current?

    - try these (may help, can't hurt)
    .. start~run~cmd followed by chkdsk c: /f
    .. start~run~sfc /scannow

    - get the latest BIOS version available and flash it to the BIOS. Even if it's the same as the one you are running now, try a fresh start.
