    G'day All,

Got a problem with roaming profiles and the effect they have when switching between NT & XP. We operate in an NT4.0 WS environment with normal users having roaming profiles. However At each branch users also have a training PC which operates with XP Pro.

The problem arises when the user plays with the training PC and then logs on at their NT workstation in that all the settings they had whilst in XP carry across to NT. Not too worried about different colours and fonts but there are a few other oddities occuring. There is also a problem between IE5.5 (NT) and IE6 (XP) in that saved passwords are not being saved and data protection tries to activate. Blowing away the users profile does seem to fix the problem but I don't want to be doing that all the time. Minor issues but having a fix would be handy.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated....

You could try disabling autocomplete in IE as a workaround.

It looks similar to the issue in 282015 when Win2k and NT share profiles so perhaps you can contact MS for a similar hotfix if it exists.

    It Worked!!!

    Angel,

Thanks for your help. I finally got the required Fix from Microsoft. Even though this this was designed for Windows 2000 it also works with XP Pro. Nice to have a win sometimes.

    Thanks again.
