Is it possible do "downgrade" from XP to Windows 2000? I have tried a couple of times and get the message "Windows CD earlier version than existing version. Setup function will be deactivated "
Sure don't care much for XP and would like to get rid of it and go to 2000.
And, I know there's someone out there that can help.
    Thanks,
    Mick

    Boot to a startup diskette.
    Fdisk, and format the drive.
    Insert the Win2k CD.
    Restart, booting to the CD.
    Install Win2k.

    You CANNOT downgrade. Period.

    Use XP Pro.
Also, you can set up XP to look just like earlier versions of windows by disabling Themes Service and using custom performanvce settings. I used to run Win2K Pro and now use XP Pro. I do not care for the XP Themes and all the bloated eye candy and my system looks just like it did when I ran 2K Pro. And XP Pro is faster and more efficient than win2K.

    Yup. Xp-pro

Or go with Win2003 and the tweaks to make it behave like a workstation. Faster and more efficient than 2K or XP-Pro.
