For the past 10 days when sending email using Netscape 7 or Thunderbird I get the message "The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server mail.swbell.net failed." No error message number is associated with this message. In spite of the error message, as far as I can tell, the mail is always sent. I do not experience this problem when using other outgoing mail servers on this computer. The OS is Win XP. My ISP has indicated that this is a Netscape problem. Any advice?

    Welcome to the Forum, Marys

    Hi Marys,

Your ISP would be incorrect in telling you that this is a Netscape problem. This is a problem with your server. A pretty typical response tho...

See this thread for a discussion of the problem:
Netscape can't receive via SBC, DSL

Here is Bug Report #232860 explaining the problem, and showing that it is fixed starting with the 2/5/04 nightly.

Post back with any further questions...

    Ramona :D
