    Hello everyone,

First of all I'd like to thank the forum moderators for the wonderful idea of making a site and forum of this level!

But I'm writing to you to poe a question and hopefully to get a solution for my problem.

I own an Acer Aspire Laptop, P4 2.6 Gh with 512 Ram running XP, with broadband connection and Wi-Fi connection through a US Robotics router (Turbo access Point) and the matching PCMCIA card to boot. I own this system for 5 months now.

    So you'd think that everything's hunky-dory...

It was untill a few days ago.

Then suddenly my internet speed went down, pages of sites
I visited daily took minutes to load, it was hell.

Then when I wanted to play Wolfenstein ET online, my ping was about 1700 to 2000.

    Wih Half-Life, the same.

I checked my system with Ad-Aware 6, EasyCleaner (registry) and for viruses.

I cleaned out all of the temp files, cookies - u name it.

Does anyone have a clue what's going on?

    Thanx in advance...

What OS? It makes a difference in which diagnostic aides will be available.

If all worked well previously, and IF no recvent changes made, then likely the problem is with the isp's connection, a temp problem.

I'm running XP, and the problem has been around for
    4 days now, so I don't think it's temporary!

    Please help...

    Anubis,

    More questions here.
What type of broadband? Cable, DSL
    Make/model of modem?
ISP Provider? Have you checked with them on line problems? Anyone else in your area having problems?
Have you reset modem, ie; unplug and unhook, wait 1 min. and reconnect?
Have you done a tracert to your ISP or any other site close to you? Do you know how to copy and paste a tracert? If so, please do.
Have you done any tweaking/testing on connection?

    Hey people,

It's ok now - sorry to have bothered you with this!

The problem seemed to be that I exceeded my uploadcapacity.

I allready checked the download capacity, and it was ok, but no-one checks the upload offcourse....

So everything's back to normal now.. thank god!

    Bye bye

Thanks for posting back with the solution.

And certainly no bother to take a few whacks at the problem.

I know that this thread is closed, however, I'm experiencing the same problem with many users including myself. After searching the web and finding another thread site in German, I'm still a little lost. Where can I change the "upload" and "download" capacity. It looks like this is a solution to my problem for me and the users.

Thread wasn't closed. No problems with another response to it.

The amount you are allowed to upload or download is dependent on the rules your ISP uses. There is no system/network/internet limit but lots of ISPs like to set limits.

Usually they just want you to pay more if you want to move more data.

Many ISPs do not set limits though. I'm with a broadband service that doesn't care how much I upload or download during a month.

WOW thanks for the response Newt.

However, I still have a problem Houston....

My T1 connections are fine. I'm running at 1.0 Gbps. All other network functions are perfect. IE is forever timing out everywhere I go...even here.... The progress shows connecting to......web site found.......then times out......;( All patches installed. All folders emptied consistantly. Netscape is ok though. Any other suggestions??
