Hi, I am new to burning DVD's. I have Nero Burning Rom.

I was wondering if I am doing this right?

I was trying to make a copy of one of my other DVD's. I put the original DVD movie in my burner and I use the wizard to make a copy of the original dvd so I can copy it on a DVD-RW.

I copy the original DVD ok. It has no problems. When I burn it onto a DVD-RW it burns and says everything is ok. When I go to put it into the DVD player, it has just a black screen. It burned something, because it shows that the 29 chapters of the DVD are there, but its just a black screen.

I hope I am just doing something wrong. Can anybody help me out?

Also, is there a message board site on how to burn DVD's?

    Thanks for your help!

The DVD you tried to copy if it was a retail DVD movie it is 99.9% bet that it has copy protected. So you just can not copy it. Unless you have program like DVD X COPY. Take a look at http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ it should be a help to you in making a DVD.

Thanks for the help. I am thinking you are right. I figure I am pretty much burning the DVD the right way, because I get no errors and it says it burned. I'm wishing I could find something to burn before I spend money on another software like DVD X Copy.

    Thanks for the help guys!

That is what it was. I had to get that program.

You guys wouldn't happen to know how to burn a Video tape to a DVD-RW would you? I recorded this basketball game back in 1998 on video tape and I have always wanted to burn it to DVD.

Any ideas what how I would go about doing that?

You are going to need video capture hardware. Note, a firewire card will not work with a VCR or a non digital camcorder. As you need to turn the analog tape into digital so you can bring it into your computer. You hookup your VCR to the capture hardware. Most retail capture hardware comes with a software program for making a movie.

Russ is right about needing the proper hardware but you may already have it. Check to see if you have an analog line in on your video card. If so, you can use it to plug the camcorder into.

Hey, how do I find out if I already have this on my computer? I don't think I do, but I want to check and see?

Can somebody provide me with a link to the device I need? Maybe on ebay or something like that?

I promise I'm not laze :). I just work a lot and don't have much online anymore :(

Also, I have a DVD/VCR combo. The DVD reads any format of DVD. I noticed that the DVD player has a, "COPY" button on it. I am wondering what this is exactly? I can't find the Instructions. Its a Daewoo DVD 3000.

Thanks so much for your time!
