Cannot open links in Outlook Express or shortcuts in Internet Explorer

    Interesting, Ann - not come across that in my browsing. Like to point me at a site which shows this?

    Incidentally I use Sun Java, not MS, if that makes any difference.

    Hi Pete,

    I would be happy to share an example but this happens at randon times on sites that I just happen upon while doing this or that. There's no way for me to remember which. When I run across a site that this happens on, again, I will be sure to post it here.

    I appreciate everyone's help. Nothing I tried did any good. So I have an ingenious idea ... I UNinstalled Windows Explorer, Outlook Express, Norton Antivirus ... then RE-Installed them from the Recovery CD that came with the laptop. I got all the updates downloaded and installed after that. So far, everything is working like a charm. I am so greatful. I am also getting Microsoft Word to install on the laptop in place of Corel Word Perfect that came on the comptuer.

    So thank all of you again for you help. The Uninstall and reinstall did the trick.
