    Hi!

Here's an easy one for you all. I have surfed around a bit and searched this forum to no avail thus far, so........I give up......

Where does XP store its desktop icons? What I want to do is to change the recycle bin icon to something foreign (ICO file not from XP). I want to do this without setting up some kind of wild icon-changing program.

Can this be done if I know where the icons are stored and copy some downloaded ones into there? Yes or no?

    Thanx in advance,
    Randy

Icons are stored in many places, and location may change as you change themes. Use whatever you want by right clicking blank spot on desktop>properties>desktop tab>customize then highlight recycle bin and select change, browse to location of new icon.

    Thanx a million, Dave!

I'll set up a special folder for custom icons and refer to icons from that folder when changing them.
