    DoctorDoom,

Thanks for the info. I currently have version 2.6 and assume that I am okay for now. But, as a Zone Alarm user, should I be concerned about this? There's not much more then games and basic files on my machine. I don't keep important info on my drives. If there is reason to be concerned, what are my options? Should I install a different protection program? What would you recommend? Thanks Dr.

One thing that was referred to in the article that I agree with and I believe DoctorDoom will also.

And I believe in another post DD also mentioned this.

Regardless of what Firewall you may be running, unless really needed make sure that File and Printer Sharing IS NOT bound to TCP/IP.

If fact is you are not on a LAN it does not even need to be installed.

    Hi Mike,

I don't know whether or not you noticed, but the ZoneAlarm Article was dated 12/20/00. There have been improvements and upgrades in the program since that time. Six months later this same site is advertising ZA 2.6 and the posting the download site? Read this:
ZoneAlarm 2.6 Posted @ July 2001 Things that make you go hmmmm.

    This from the ScotFinnie Newsletter:
Review: New ZoneAlarm Pro 2.6 **SFNL Top Product!**

Another good source for information on Firewalls: http://grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm Run the Leak Test. Read all the pages for more up to date information.

Another great place to voice your concerns is the news.grc.com NG, and especially the grc.shieldsup. There's beau coup info there on ZoneAlarm.

Ramona :D A more than satisfied user of ZA

    BillyBob,

    Thanks for the tip.

    Ramona,

I must say, you never cease to amaze me with your knowledge. You can always seem to find those handy sites full of info. Yes, I did miss the fine print regarding the date. After looking over the info, and having your personal recommendation :D , I think I'll stay with ZA. Thanks again.

    Mike

    Thanks Mike!

I would be willing to bet that our DoctorDoom didn't note the date either! ;)

Tiny is also an excellent Firewall, but just a tad too technical for me. It's definitely for the TechnoGeek types.

    Later,

    Ramona :D
