When I click on links that are supposed to open a new window nothing happens. Right-click "Open in a new window" doesn't work nor do Java pop-up widows. The only pop-up stopper I use is the Google tool bar and turning it off doesn't help. I am using IE 6 SP1 and Windows XP.

Try this. Post back if you have questions or if none of this works.

If this just happened, try System Restore first. Then run SFC with you XP disk. You may need to reinstall some updates, but it beats picking your way through the registry, one key at a time!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try. The Microsoft article sounds exactly like my problem.

Hi, repair IE with sp1 probably missing from add/remove, will re-register dll's, specifically urlmon.dll, plus other fixes. sfc /scannow after, is not a bad idea however it has no effect on your immediate problem. This is easiest way go to start run and type:-
    rundll32.exe setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance
