    Hi all,

I am brand new to this forum and to Win XP home edition so please bear with me if this sounds like a silly question. I have searched through the forum and didn't really see an answer to my dilemma.

In 98 I used to organize my programs into catagories and such so I choose the classic start menu option in XP. Problem is not everything is showing up when i rc on the start |open| programs under my username.

They all show up when I look at the open all users option.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make mine display everything that is there so I can catagorize them the way I like.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer me

It works just the same as 98 - but differently.

Since XP is designed as a multi-user system, they needed a way to keep your stuff apart from that of any other user who logged on.

The things you want are located in two places under your Documents & Settings folder. Some in All Users and some in your username folder.

In both places, go into start menu~programs and arrange to suit yourself.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

Hi Michigoose, and welcome to the forum ...

It sounds as though you have a single-user system so, to expand on and better implement Newt's suggestion, download TweakUI 2.10 (XP) and install it.

When you open TweakUI, click on the + sign beside My Computer, then on Special Folders. From the drop-down menu select Start Menu, click on the Change Location button, and browse to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu.

Doing that will make the All Users Start menu the default, and any programs you install should install their Start menu shortcuts there. Some programs will insist on installing to your personal Start menu folder, but you can manually move their icons to the All Users Start menu folder.

I know that you're already familiar with organizing your Start menu, but you may find this illustrated guide helpful.

    Thanks for the help!

I am going to fool around with it a bit today and hopefully get it a bit more organized.
