microsoft updates - curiosity

I don't know where this should go. I have been receiving 2-4 times a day in my e-mail yahoo folders a push to updated security paches and problems from Microsoft. However, I don't thisnk these are coming from MS. Address don't quite look right.

I use belarc. then I check the hotfix box to see what needs to be updated. I see the security patches, but they don't apply to my system. These other fixes about 4-5 of them says I should download immediately. Please advise what is everyone's thoughts. My O/S is Windows 2K. I am updated to sp5

Microsoft doesn't email notices about updates. Those messages are scams trying to get you to go to their website where your computer will probably be presented with a worm/trojan/virus (I've forgotten the exact details).

Just delete them as they come in.

 

I am receiving attachments also. Looks like the Bogus Forms, with unusual e- mail address.
