    Hey all,
I'm getting an application error when i'm trying to open an .avi file in windows media player 9. It's Windows XP Home, with SP1. The error message is:

    wmplayer.exe - Application Error
    The exception Illegal Instruction
An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction.
(0x000001d) occurred in the application at location 0x04d9121d.

Click on OK to terminate the program.
Click on CANCEL to debug program.

    Any ideas?

Check your event logs. Application log probably. It will have more information.

Open an event that relates, click on the icon below the up/down arrows (sends a copy to your clipboard) and post it. The detail will help tracking this one down.

ok, checked the events log. It's saying:

Faulting application wmplayer.exe, version 0.0.2980, faulting module ac3audio.ax, version 2.2.0.0, fault address, 0x0001121d.

So it's the ac3audio.ax that's at fault right? How could I download the newest version?
