Faulty MPG file repair

I have an mpg file on my computer that is damaged in some way. I cannot skip through it (the video freezes if I try) and at some point before the end of the mpg it freezes on its own.

I had a utility that would fix asf files that had this problem. It was an asf cutter/joiner, and if you just cut an asf file to itself it would solve the problem by resetting the start and endpoints of the asf file.

Is there a freeware or trialware program that can do this for mpg files, or just generally fix mpg files? Cuz I can't find one that doesn't give me an error message with this mpg file.

Load it in to TMPGEnc, click file, mpeg tools, demux the whole thing, then remux.
