Lost all my e-mail folders and accounts ...

    Hi folks, things have gotten a bit desperate around here for me and after some hunting around, I hope I might have hit upon the place that will help me out of my pickle.

    Went to go send an e-mail earlier today and due to my dsl modem disconnecting (nothing to do with this situation), I saved my message and shut down the computer in a normal, safe fashion.

    I restarted the computer, pulled up Netscape Mail, and lo and behold, it wanted me to register again. Needless to say I freaked. I haven't created a new profile yet, and frankly, won't. If I can't get my stuff back (a lot of what I need), I'll simply stop using Netscape in full.

    I did a system restore, hoping that would fix things. It didn't. So I pulled up google and did a search and came across this. I read the forum about clearing caches and finding the files at
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt but when I did a search for that, it was no where to be found (I did the view hidden files as well) and absolutely no *.slt files to be found on the computer at all with a search.

    HELP!

    Tell me this can be reveresed and fixed.

    Welcome to the Forum, Grumble!

    Hi Grumble,

    First, have you tried the workarounds suggested here:
    Cannot Open/Delete Mail "¢â€¢ Mail Disappears

    If no joy try this:
    Ensure that you know your current Netscape Profile name
    With Netscape open
    Delete the registry.dat file, located in the Mozilla folder
    Not the Mozilla folder in Program Files, but here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla
    OR
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla
    Close Netscape
    Open Profile Manager
    Start | Programs | Netscape | Profile Manager
    Select: Create Profile
    Use the same name as the existing Profile
