Using a Roxio Platinum Easy CD Creator and Windows XP Pro, a condition developed recently where I get the following message when I try formating or writing to a previously formatted CD.
I'm not into music and am only interested in writing and reading from the CD.

After installing new CDs and trying to format them, the following:
This has me stumped and not only wasting CDs but more than that the CD writer is unuseable. Any Ideas?

    A few thoughts .....

Check that the native CD burning software in XP is disabled - right click on burner in my computer > Properties > Recording

Check the Roxio website for update/patch

Remove the burner in Device Manager, uninstall Roxio and start over.

Starting at the center thought did the job . When I downloaded two Roxio updates the CD system appeared to be working normally and whatever the conflict between the Windows and Roxio disappeared. Thank you for you help.
