I need help!!!!! I have reformatted a hard drive on a machine which had ME on it. Now when I go to reload the OS I get this message. "An invalid command option was specified SU995035. I have reformatted many computers and never had this problem before. This computer belongs to a friend of my husbands and if I can't get it going - I'm in deep do do.

Can some kind folk walk me thru this. I have some knowledge but this is beyond me.

    TIA, Lorreen

 puzzled by this article. If the drive's been reformatted where's the old setver.exe come from? Unformat information perhaps? - well worth knowing if this is possible...

actually puzzled by quite a few things; the article looks specific to W98, but
seems to mean you're trying to put ME back on again? So I checked to the bottom of the Microsoft article and found a link "SU" Error Message List for Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Me Setup which looked like it might shed some light - to find that SU995035 isn't listed! - only SU995038 (typo maybe? looks like it's talking about the same thing)

Lorreen - this is ME you're trying to reload? from a CD? and, are there other partitions on the HDD? (which might have some kind of relic of the old software - Windows setup is "clever" about discovering previous incarnations on other partitions)
    best wishes, HJ.

Hi again folks, sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I've spent two whole day messing with this machine. After reformatting several times I've finally got ME to reload BUT after searching thru the material that the guy sent with the computer I can't find the certificate of authenticity with the ME serial numbers on it...... This is a Dell Dimension 4100 and I opened the package myself with the disk in it. There was no Authenticity Seal and serial numbers.

Any suggestion as to what I should do now!!!!!!! I thought I had this licked

BBS cannot help you with password / serial number type things...

...but where did this disk come from? Dell? If they have sent you a disk like that - and no authenticity seal - I'd complain at them and loud!

    best wishes, HJ.

Thanks Hugh, that's where it came from. I kanda figure that a call to Dell would be in order --- so that's what I'll do.

    Thanks everyone.....
