    Hello everyone!

I have Windows XP 2.2GHZ 512DDR Ram etc...

i used to have windows movie maker 2.0 working fine until i had to re-iunstall xp again, so when I downloaded movie maker 2.0 again, when i got to add a fade transition to a clip, or any other transitions, the program crashes. I really need it to work because I need it for the things I'm doing at the moment... so please someone write back if you know how to fix it...

    Thanks,
    Alan

    Hi alan006

No knowledge of your software.. shooting from the hip. It worked before, after xp re-install it doesn't.... no NEW hardware changes or other programs added... correct?? My guess, your missing a software update, being XP or MM2, possible a plugin... since it is in fades / transitions. Another area might also be the video card settings or again a newer driver that needs to be reinstalled. When you crash, any screen messages? Also go to Systems tools | Event Viewer | Applications. "Clear all Events ", close view and force the error / crash to occur. Go into Event viewer and see if it provides any useful information.

    Hi alan006

Get your OS and all drivers back to when MM2 worked.
Once there, please check your "Event viewer" / applications.
Easiest is clear all events, then force the error crash. Now check event viewer for any info.
PS... downloaded MM2 last week. First experience using a AV editor. Was truely impressed in what it can do. I'm sure for advance user it may be restrictive, but for someone just starting it's a fine program.

    Hey all,
sorry to bring an old thread up, but i'm getting the same problem on my laptop. It's a new laptop, with Win XP SP1, and movie maker 2.0 crashes whenever I try to either put in a video effect or transition, or a title and/or description. Anyone found a solution to this? Also, tried that Event viewer, but nothing shows up when the program crashes. It's like the program just exits itslef, not so much a crash.

found the problem, need to find the file divxaf.ax in your windows\system32 folder, and rename it to anything else, and that should fix it.

Thanks for posting the fix. Certainly not an obvious one and may help someone else with the same issue.
