Netscape use to have the BEST feature of automatically resuming where a download had left off if you'd been bumped off. Why can't it do that anymore?

    Thanks,

What kind of Netscape download manager are you referring to? I recall that 4.x had an internal download manager, i.e. for Netscape downloads. There was no download manager for non Netscape downloads.
And, the Netscape7.x which has an alleged manager, it is unclear to me if it does anything useful. I don't use it, since I have cable. But, I will have to check out.

I've always used 3rd party download programs. I have been told conflicting stories per resume....
"Resume" is a feature which must be available on both ends of the download to occur, download server and download program... which makes sense. I have been told some download managers can provide "resume" from any download server... sounds nice, don't know if it is true.
It might help if you provide the site(s) you are having problems with.

    Hi George,

I just tried the "resume" download feature in two different ways.

    1. I started downloading a small program, and clicked "cancel" when 80% complete. Started the download again, and the Download Manager resumed at the 80% mark, and completed a 100% download.

    2. Started the download, disconnected my DUN connection when the download was at the 20% mark. Reconnected, started the download and the Download Manager resumed the download.

Do you have your Preferences set to show the Download Manager when downloading?
    Preferences | Navigator | Downloads
Then Select: Open the Download Manager

    I tried the Resume

    Ramona,

I don't know why yours resumed, and mine didn't, because that's exactly what I did. I was trying to dwnload Win2k SP4 at 130Meg. And this last time I finally got it.

    Tanx,
    George

    About download resuming

To use download resuming feature, the website (or FTP site) must support download resumes. Althought mosts sites support this feature, but not all.
