    Facts:
I installed a new box with Windows 98 SE and Norton Internet Security 2004. Updated NIS and Windows 98 SE to latest patch.

I then installed Windows 2000 on a dual boot configuration. All worked well. Prior to going online, I attempted to install Norton Internet Security on Windows 2000 as well.

A message (I cannot remember) gave me a failure on install. Could not install.

Apparently it did no like the fact it was already installed on the Windows 98 SE part of the PC.

I tried booting back to Windows 98 SE and now it freezes or stays for a long time when opening Control Panel. Add/Remove Programs did not launch. Its a mess - I think I will have to start over.

    Question:
Can I and how do I install Norton Internet Security on a both Operating Systems of a dual boot Windows 98 and Windows 2000 box?

    Thanks!

No problem, I think I have been there so often I know every page ;) even when you are in the knowledge base things are not always too easy to find.

    Thanks for posting back.

    Feedback:

I started over: re-formatted the C:\ drive and chose not to create two partitions.

Re-installed Windows 98 SE and this time, I installed Windows 2000 right after it.

I then installed NIS 2004 on Windows 2000 under C:\NortonWin2000.... and rebooted - now to Windows 98. Installed then NIS 2004 onto C:\NortonWin98\...

Box is now working beautifully - Norton is all updated so is Windows 2000 and 98. The nice things is that even though NIS 2004 was installed on two different folders, the common files were installed by default onto a single folder. Now when I update NIS either under Windows 98 or Windows 2000, both OS have it updated.

It works on one single partition - my initial problem was that I had installed NIS 2004 for both Windows 2000 and Windows 98 under C:\Program Files and a conflict was created.

    Thanks again!
