Windows 98 SE slow to boot up

    In trying to help a friend with there pc running 98SE when booting up his system it takes at least 7 mins to boot up.
    How can I help him to speed this up?

    He's running 2 gig processor

    Does he have a virus program that is scanning everything on boot up?
