    Hi Guys,
I ran into a very interesting problem today. I reinstalled XP today to a different directory because my system crashed. I installed it in a different directory so I wouldn't loose anything, or so I thought.

When I setup the user names, I used the same ones that I already had. No when I go into my Documents and settings, I have two directories with the my username but only the new can be accessed. Is there a way to get my information back from my other userdirectory?

Please let me know. I am in a real bind here.

    Thanks guys.

You probably just need to "take ownership" of those files so you can access them.

The steps are in the MS KB article, HOW TO: Take Ownership of a File or Folder in Windows XP.

Note that if you have XP Home, you must boot into Safe Mode to gain access to the Security tab so you can make the necessary changes.
