Any way to keep MS Office from putting itself back in my start menu. I understand it's a needless resource hog. Running windows ME.

I don't think Office needs to be running until I call on it, either. Try this to get control of what loads at boot.

If you're just unchecking it within msconfig that won't do it.

Try right clicking on a blank spot on the taskbar and select Properties, click on the Start Menu Items tab and click on Remove, scroll down to find Startup and click on the plus sign next to it. Select Office or whatever it's actually called, and click on remove.

I may be a little off on what everything's called, I'm looking at a WIN98 machine, but it's still the same basic idea.

Another way would be to click Start > Programs > Startup and right click on what you want to remove and select Delete.

Look in your Startmenu>programs> "startup" folder and see if you got some link thrown in there. If so delete it.

And what do you mean by MSOffice or MSoffice what?

I should have been more specific. It was called the microsoft office startup group. Also, there was nothing in my start/programs/startup folder. Just happy the problem is solved. My computer acts like it feels downright frisky now. ;-)

    Sorry PLPope,

All these years and many many versions of Office and I didn't even realize or had long since forgotten, it had it's own "Startup" folder.
