netscape 7.1 will not print

hi

i installed netscape 7.1 to take advantage of the new junk mail feature. However since then i can't print from netscape... i get an error stating that "Data required by the printer cannot be found or has been corrupted. Restart windows and try printing again. "

Well i tried that and netscape will not print i get the same error. every other application i have tried including the same webpage in IE prints just fine.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i am running under winNT4.6SP6 with a HP DEskjet Cxi Professional series (which is working just fine and did with netscape 7.0.?

Hi Michel,

I saw your post on the alt.netscape newsgroup, and wondering if creating a new Profile corrected your problem. I'm definitely not a HW person, but if your problem still exists, let us know.

still won't print even with new profile

i added a new profile, rebooted, selected the new profile to start netscape and it still won't print... any other suggestions?

netscape is finally printing!!

thought i'd let you know that Doug G suggested that i clear my temp directory and that seems to have worked!!

When you say that you cleared your temp Directory, does that mean that you cleared the Windows temp? Such as C:\Temp?????

I also am unable to print using Navigator 7.1. I'm running under XP, so I don't have a C:\Windows directory and therefore can figure out how to create a new profile. But I have emptied my temp directories without fixing the problem.

FYI: I'm trying to print to my HP OfficeJet G85 printer, in case that matters. Also, I can print the same web page using IE.

I found a couple of NG threads posted by HP users who couldn't print from Netscape. The general consensus is that the problem lies with the Printer, and not Netscape. However, you say that you can print from IE...

Questions & Answers from Newsgroups:

Do the pages displayproperly in print preview.

Have you canceled a print job recently? Try unplugging the printer
1) switch off the printer.
2) pull the electric cable
3) pull the connector cable

Leave as is for 5-10 minutes! (this is to let the Printer-memory drain itself)
Reconnect all, (FIRST the connector cable, THEN the electric!)
Switch on, try again!

If that doesn't work, RTM (Read the Manual) of the printer! Check, that you haven't inadvertantly changed any switch-settings.

Re-installing the drivers is a good idea as well - IF you still have the Disks / CD

The fact that printing from Netscape doesn't work, does not mean that the fault is in Netscape. Did printing ever work for you in N7?

Have you tried looking for an updated printer driver?

Have you tried reinstalling N7? - if it did in fact print for you on some previous occasion (as you may have done something that has corrupted the install)

Under Preferences-->Mail & Newsgroups-->Message Display
do you have Fixed Width Font or Variable Width Font?
Style, size, color=black all Regular?

Languages of Western IS0 8859-1 and do you "Apply Default to all messages?

Using the Modern theme or something else?

netscape7.1 won't print webpages again

i have tried everything you have suggested to date including:
clearing my temp directory
reinstalling netscape
etc.

and they all have worked in the past temporarily... but now once again i cannot print webpages ( i can print mail though). i can;t continue to reinstall netscape every few weeks, do you have any other suggestions?
reminder running winNT4.0 SP6, 733 PIII, 1Gb Ram,
