    Broni,

First, thanks! I'll work on those. Please explain what you mean when you say 'nothing done'.

Lastly, I didn't see a reply to this question (unless I missed it?)

I also forgot to mention that her son has been playing Outwar and there is a nagging grey box that won't go away no matter what I try. I searched and deleted all files with Outwar but to no avail. The properties box on it says this: http://images.outwar.com/images/rampidbar.gif

Oops! forgot to answer your question. She has AIM/Dead Aim and 'had' two spyware programs, StopZilla and something else but I can't recall what. I removed both. No firewall unless her carrier does (cable)?

Glancing back over this thread I don't see any mention of Adaware
Most of us use both anti spyware programs..

There are lots of new nasties neither one targets yet .

If it was my machine and SpyBot had problems fixing and or they came back I would first try running it in safe made Adaware to.
In this case I dont think it would do any good.

Working on this remotely through through (what) three people
is very hard,, for instance I am in doubt since
(Registry key, nothing done) thats normal if you right click in the results window ,, but if from the old log,, then of course nothing was done,,, ie verify they are fixing everything marked in red and letting SpyBot restart with windows if it needs to and that the program is updated,

    If it comes back
Next thing would be to not fix anything with either program, nor hijackthis for a couple days,, then have THEM (if possible) post a fresh log here at the BBS and possible at Forums.spywareinfo or wilders
    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/index.php?board=17

It was from your post, you typed it...

It' shard to say what to do here. I would search registry for any reference to "rampidbar.gif "

Lastly, in today's world, firewall is a must, especially with a broadband connection. Without it some kind of hackers can plant anything they want on her computer, and this situation will never end. Get her a free version of Zone Alarm.

    Lonny,

downloading the Adaware now. Spybot is set to boot on startup - but doesn't. Also have the latest version installed. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, didn't help on the boot.

    Broni,

the 'nothing done' was what I cut & pasted from the Spybot so it appears that Spybot isn't fixing them. I'll be sure to direct her to the Zone Alarm.

Good news is, so far, no OS error message when surfing and it's faster than before.

    Thanks again!

There is no reason to set Spybot at the startup. It won't do any good. You have to start it manually.
As for "nothing done ", sometimes Spybot asks you to restart your computer to complete its actions (certain file may be in use).
