I am trying to install Roxio Easy CD and DVD Creator 6 on my 2 year old Gateway with Windows XP operating system. I get the message that I must first remove Roxio 5 which apparently came preloaded on the computer, but we did not get the CD which completes the installation, and, alas, the removal of the program.

I have e-mailed Roxio, but they have not responded, yet.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

I would check the roxio site for a tool to do this, i know that i had the same problem with norton and even with the cd i could not remove until i went to their site and found a snap in tool. If all else fails call roxo they should be able to help.

Following Abraxas' suggestion, I got as far as step #9: Remove the folder {8851E12C-0EF9-11D4-A788-009027ABA5Do}. I don't have that folder.

I do have: {609F7AC8-C510-11D4-A788-009027ABA5D0}. The beginning is not the same, but the end is.

I could find nothing at the Roxio site.

Since I don't have Roxio, I can't tell whether that folder is associated with it. Maybe you can tell something by perusing the contents or opening some of the smaller files in Notepad.

    Yahoo!

I'm so glad this worked out for you and your most welcome.

MOROZCO deserves a "thanks" too. It was his suggestion that sent me on my quest for a tool.

Thanks for updating your post with the final outcome. It's nice to know how this turned out. :D
