weird path showing up in website address

I keep getting this " http://ehttp.cc/?" showing up all the time now whenever I try to enter an address for a website. I have my homepage set as www.google.ca but everytime someone uses the internet it resets the home page to " http://ehttp.cc/?www.google.ca" and then of course it can't find it. If I type any website at all into the address line it comes back with that "http://ehttp.cc/?" in front of the address and then says website is unavailable. I have to delete this weird http://ehttp.cc/? everytime I try to find a website. Does anyone have any idea where this is coming from and how I can get rid of it ? It seems like such a small thing but man, it's annoying !

any idea on how I was "hijacked" in the first place so I can maybe avoid it in the future ?

 

cone - you got hijacked by a piece of spyware/malware sneaked on to your PC from a web site somewhere.

Do you routinely use any sort of spyware killer such as Ad-aware, Spybot, or similar? They can remove most of the trash that causes these problems and Spybot offers a feature to prevent around 550 of the most common ones from ever getting on again..

 

I have ad-aware and I run it each morning when I boot up. I had this problem for a couple of weeks so it must not have caught the spyware. I'll check and see if there are any updates and watch for this in the future. Thanks again for all your help !
