Yep! Right click on it and select "rename ". Just make sure the extension stays the same.

First, you have to use the "save as" function, and put it somewhere other than OE- I have a file in My Docs of emails I want to keep, for example. Then go back to where you saved it and highlight it, right click and choose "rename ". Like Ann said- make sure you don't change the file extention.

Handy thing to know: Sometimes you get emails that were forwards, and Windows doesn't know how to open the email or the attachment? Save it to your folder, and then rename, inserting .eml at the end, and most of the time, it will open. LOL

If you want to "rename" the e-mail by changing the text of the "Subject" heading do this:

Drag the e-mail onto your desktop. This will create a shortcut with the *.eml extension.

click once on the shortcut to highlight it

hold the Shift key down and right click to get the drop down menu.

Left click on "open with" and in the Open With box scroll down and select WordPad.

this will open up the e-mail in wordpad. (You could also use Notepad for very small e-mails.)

Scroll down till you see the "Subject" line then edit the subject to whatever you want.

Save and close, then drag the eml file from the desktop back to whatever folder in OE you want. This will place a duplicate e-mail in OE but with the new subject line. You can then delete the original e-mail if you wish. Also delete the desktop shortcut.

Sounds complicated but is really quite easy once you get the hang of it. Goes pretty fast if you size the windows so you can see both the desktop and OE window at the same time.
    :)

If you so desire, you can edit any part of the e-mail this way.

Or you can just forward or send the email back to yourself, changing the name in the subject line to what ever you want. Again, you'd have to delete the duplicate, [once your received the new "Entitled email ".
    ========

I'm sorry, I thought you had already saved this in a separate folder named "My Family ". I didn't realize you were still working within OE mailboxes.

    Yep...

JohnB explained the "How-To's ", previously^^^^. Only difference would be you do the "open with_edit" to the one in the "My Documents Folder" and than DragNDrop it in OEmailbox.

    Synopsis...
OEopened small enough to access desktop.
It's a left mouse click, dragNDrop ", Right Click-Open WIth Wordpad, Edit the Html code text of focus, Save and dragNDrop it back into an OE mailbox.

Got to say that just re-sending it to yourself is less risky. I'd worry about corrupting the email or the OEmailbox. I don't know what the odds are but why "rock the boat ".
