default user account

which account is the default (global) user account.

ex: when nobodies logged in, the screensaver comes on in 10min & system standy in 20min. I would like to change this.

I'v tried the hidden administrator account.

 

Those settings are changed in Control Panel>Appearance and Themes>Display>Screen Saver tab>Power button.

 

I think you mis-read the original post.

 

You can find out the default user name by going to this registry key:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Look for the value DefaultUserName.

 

I think DefaultUserName simply reflects the last successfully logon if the PC is set to remember that information.

HKEY_USERS/.default/controlpanel/desktop is where you need to make your changes to have them effective when no one is logged on.

There is probably a way other than a direct registry edit to change the values but I have no idea what/where it might be. I just tested a change to the ScreenSaveTimeout from one hour to 10 seconds and logged off. 10 seconds and the screen saver started.
