Missing icons from OE top

Hello:

When I open a document, whether new or already written, it no longer shows on top (2nd row) the icons: REPLY, REPLY TO ALL, FORWARD, PRINT, DELETE, PREVIOUS, NEXT, ADDRESSES, etc.

The 1st row is okay which reads: FILE, EDIT, VIEW, TOOLS, MESSAGE, HELP, ETC.

I tried and tried looking where to find and restore this row of icons but couldn't. Tried Options, tried Layout, and looked all over for some options relating to these missing things but, if they are there...I didn't see them! Please help?

Check again under View>Layout and make sure the "Toolbar" box is checked.

Edit: Just re-read your post and seems you are having this problem when you open a new or old e-mail doc. If this is the case when you have one of these documents open go to View>Toolbar and click on "Standard Buttons ".

 

If all those suggestions have everything checked. Look around file, edit, etc area. Either above, below, beside. Look for these ">>" arrows. If there're visible, left click on them and hold, then drag. See if the buttons reappear.

 

Missing OE icons...

Thanks very much for your suggestions which I tried as follows:

John: I checked again the View>Layout and saw that the "Toolbar" box is checked as "Standard Buttons ". I also tried, again, opening a doc and went to tools and the same as before, the "Standard Buttons" was already checked (all of this is what puzzles me so much!).

Not sure what the above is. Are there instructions that I could've looked up related to this problem?

Aleecat: Since I've been searching all over so much looking for these blessed icons, I had come across the ">>" arrows and did try dragging the arrow (with its contents) but didn't work, so I also tried dragging the icons one at a time with negative results.

What's interesting is that I have another email at OE and that one is normal, so I compared the normal "checked boxes" with those of this problem and they are both equally checked... This IS an enigma isn't it???

I even went to "View" "Layout" and all boxes are checked, including the "Tool Bar ". I then clicked on "Customize Toolbar" and the column "Current Toolbar Buttons" at the right hand side contained all the missing icon names (with an intermittent insertion of the word "Separator ") (???) so I just don't understand this window.

I do appreciate both of your kindness in trying to help. Adela

 

Ok, just helped my mom with this. After file, edit, view, etc look for a vertical line(that is the separator) put your cursor on the line, if it changes to a "left/right arrow" click and hold, drag down.

Oh Alee, I was so sure it was going to work since it made sense to me, as in the past I was able to get out of a little mess with this vertical (or horizontal) double point arrow in another area... but this time, alas, is not doing it! I got the vertical double point arrow all right on the horizontal separator, but it didn't respond to dragging though I tried several times. I even clicked on Reply thinking it would respond in this window, but no result.

There must be something radically wrong with my OE, I'm afraid. So glad it worked for your mom though! I'm going to knock my head against the monitor!!!

I got the vertical double point arrow all right on the horizontal separator, but it didn't respond to dragging

Try it again, but you are looking for a "left/right" double arrow, not vertical, on a vertical separator not horizontal.

In rereading your suggestions I realize I misinterpreted them - I'm so sorry! This time I looked for the VERTICAL, not horizontal separator line, and found the horizontal 2-point arrow and dragged it down...and it happened!!!!! Thank you so much! The only ones that are missing now are the "Send/Rec ", "Addresses ", and I believe, "Find ". Perhaps I should do this again to see if the few missing ones appear?
