    Hello,
I seem to have a slight issue with saving my password in my dialup settings, the "save password" box is greyed out, so I am having to type each time I connect,
    I'm using IE6 on Win98se.
There must be something that I have corrupted...!....again....!
Any help or ideas most appreciated.

    1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Network.
    2. Click Add, click Client, and then click Add.
    3. In the Manufacturers box, click Microsoft.
    4. In the Network Clients box, click Client for Microsoft Networks then click OK.
    5. Click OK.
    6. If you are prompted to restart your computer, do so.

Miz is right but I thought I'd add a couple of things. If MS Client is already installed just switch to it where it says primary network logon. If it's already selected, change it to a different one and reboot. However you do it, when you reboot you'll be prompted for your username and password when windows starts. Important: if you don't want to use a password, leave it blank and click OK. Don't click cancel or you'll be right back where you were before with the greyed out password box. This happens because when you start windows and click cancel instead of ok at the password prompt, you get logged on as a guest so to speak and the password saving features then become unavailable.

Yes I remember now guys, as usual it was user error during the windows install! I forgot to click cancel during one of the "user details" screens during the install, and instead entered a name..!
This resulted in me being asked for a password everytime I started windows, and when I disabled it in the network settings it greyed out my password settings in my ie dialup.
Resulting in having to manually enter my password to connect to the internet.
OK i did the fix, but is there any other way to remove the logon at the start so that when I get back from making a coffee the pc has loaded instead of hanging there till I hit OK???

You probably just want to have the logon as automatic so you never see it rather than doing away with it.

TweakUI (free download from Microsoft) has an option to set the PC to do just that.
